For over 90 years the Cancer Society has been supporting Kiwis with cancer and working towards a cancer-free future for our country, providing important services, funding research and fighting for important issues like better access to cancer treatments in New Zealand. With trained staff across the country, the Cancer Society’s team work tirelessly to provide free services to support anyone with cancer in every community.
Their services include:
- One-on-one practical support and care for people and their families, impacted by cancer
- Advocating free health promotion in important areas, such as SunSmart schools, living healthy lifestyles, encouraging screenings and early detection
- Providing accommodation at a number of centres across the country for people who have to travel for treatment
- Providing valuable information on cancer and dealing with a diagnosis, including advice on access to support and 0800 support
As an independent organisation, the Cancer Society receives no regular government support and relies on funds from the public to be able to continue to offer their services. Every donation made goes towards making a difference to people now as well as contribute to healthier and safer communities in the future.
